Copyright & Content Policy

Last updated: September 11, 2026

Shelvy is a cataloguing tool for doll collectors. It shows three kinds of content: photos our users take of their own collections, reference images and names that identify doll releases, and price information from public marketplace listings. We respect the rights of manufacturers, photographers and collectors, and this page explains how that content is handled and how to reach us if you believe something infringes your rights.

Report an infringement

If you are a copyright owner (or authorised to act for one) and believe that content available through Shelvy infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent. We act on complete notices promptly โ€” normally within two business days โ€” and remove or disable access to the material in question.

Designated Copyright Agent

Under 17 U.S.C. ยง512(c)(3), a notice must include:

  1. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed (a link to the original, a registration number, or a description).
  2. Identification of the material you want removed, with enough detail for us to find it โ€” the image URL (for example an img.getshelvy.app/โ€ฆ address), the doll name and brand shown in the app, or a screenshot.
  3. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

Please note that under ยง512(f) a person who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages. If you are not sure whether a use is infringing, consider seeking legal advice before sending a notice.

What happens after a notice

When we receive a complete notice we remove or disable the material, notify the user who posted it (if it is user content), and keep a record of the notice. If a user believes the removal was a mistake, they may send a counter-notice under ยง512(g) containing their contact details, identification of the removed material, a statement under penalty of perjury that they believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, and consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. federal court for their district (or, for users outside the United States, any judicial district where Shelvy may be found). We forward counter-notices to the original complainant; unless they inform us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action, the material may be restored.

Repeat infringers

We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers. Content that has been removed following a valid notice may not be re-uploaded.

Reference images and brand names

To help a collector confirm which release a doll is, Shelvy shows small reference images and the official release name, line and year. These images are served as reduced-size thumbnails, are attributed to their source where available, and are used solely to identify items a user already owns โ€” the same way a printed price guide or an auction listing describes them. We do not sell, license or otherwise distribute them, and we do not claim any rights in them.

If you are the owner of a reference image and would prefer it not appear in Shelvy, you do not need to send a formal legal notice: email copyright@getshelvy.app with a link or the doll's name and we will remove it.

Shelvy is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Mattel, Inc., MGA Entertainment, Inc., The Walt Disney Company or any other manufacturer. Brand, line and character names appear as factual descriptions of products and remain the trademarks of their respective owners. The brand badges shown in the app are original artwork created for Shelvy and are not the manufacturers' logos.

Your own photos

Photos you take of your collection belong to you. By uploading them you give us the licence described in our Terms of Service, which we use only to run the service. Please upload only photos you took yourself or have permission to use.

Trademark concerns

If you believe Shelvy uses a trademark in a way that suggests affiliation or endorsement, write to the same address with the mark in question, where it appears, and why you believe the use is misleading. We take these reports seriously and respond to each one.
