1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in, we receive an account identifier and, when provided by Apple or Google, your email address. Apple may provide a private relay address instead of your personal email.
- Optional profile information. You may add a nickname, birth year, gender, short bio, and profile photo. These fields are optional, can be changed or removed at any time, and are not currently displayed publicly.
- Collection content. We store shelf photos you explicitly select, detected doll crops, doll names and series, collection organization, condition, prices, and purchase details you choose to enter.
- Corrections and feedback. We store edits to detection boxes, identifications, conditions, comparison listings, and price feedback to provide your catalog and improve recognition and appraisal quality.
- Subscription information. We receive subscription status and related transaction event identifiers. Apple processes payment details; Shelvy does not receive your full card or banking information.
- Waitlist email. If you ask to be notified about a future platform (for example Android) on our website, we store only that email address, the platform requested, your browser language, and the page you came from. You do not need an account, and we use the address for that single notification — not for a newsletter.
- Technical information. Our servers may process IP address, request time, app/device type, push notification token, and error diagnostics needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
Photo access is user-directed. Shelvy receives only the photos you take in the app or explicitly choose through Apple’s photo picker. It does not scan your photo library in the background.
2. How we use information
We use information only as reasonably necessary to:
- authenticate your account and keep your collection available across sessions;
- detect, identify, organize, and appraise dolls from selected photos;
- personalize the profile and improve the experience for different collector groups;
- provide subscription features and restore access after purchase;
- send service notifications when enabled;
- prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and protect Shelvy and its users;
- evaluate and improve detection, identification, and pricing quality using corrections and de-identified signals.
3. AI processing and service providers
To provide recognition and appraisal, Shelvy may send a selected photo or a cropped portion of it to specialized processors. Depending on the feature and current system configuration, these can include:
- Apple and Google for sign-in and account verification;
- Railway and Cloudflare R2 for application hosting, databases, and private media storage;
- OpenRouter and its selected AI model providers for image understanding, identification, and structured analysis;
- Replicate for server-side object detection when on-device detection is unavailable or being evaluated;
- Apify, SerpApi, or SearchAPI for visual search and marketplace research;
- eBay for comparable listings and pricing information;
- Apple and RevenueCat for subscription processing and entitlement status;
- Sentry, when enabled, for application error diagnostics.
Providers receive only the information needed for their role and process it under their own terms and privacy policies. The exact provider may change as we improve reliability or replace a service. We do not sell personal information, run third-party advertising, or use your photos for cross-app advertising.
5. Retention and account deletion
Your account, editable profile, collection records, and stored photos are retained while your account is active or until you remove them. Operational logs and diagnostics are retained only as reasonably needed for security and troubleshooting.
You can permanently delete your account in Shelvy from Profile → Account → Delete account. This removes your account, profile photo, shelf photos, collection items, and device tokens from active systems.
A waitlist email is not part of an account and is therefore not covered by in-app account deletion. We keep it until the platform you asked about launches, or until you ask us to remove it — email us and it is deleted.
Corrections and quality feedback may remain after deletion only in de-identified form: the link to your account is removed, and the retained signal is used to evaluate or improve recognition and pricing. Information may also be retained when required to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or prevent abuse.
6. Your choices and rights
- Edit or clear optional profile fields and remove your profile photo in the app.
- Delete individual collection photos or your entire account in the app.
- Control photo access through Apple’s picker and notification permission in iOS Settings.
- Request access, correction, export, restriction, or deletion where applicable by emailing us.
We may need to verify that a request comes from the account owner. Depending on where you live, you may also have a right to complain to your local data protection authority.
7. Security and international processing
We use access controls, authenticated media endpoints, private storage, and reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Our providers may process information in countries other than yours, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Shelvy changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice in the app when a change materially affects how personal information is used.
